MAYONNAISE Rocks Anew In 'Akalain Mo 'Yun?' Part 2
The first 'Akalain Mo 'Yun?' concert left the Mayonation wanting more! Their favorite local rock group heard their plea so Mayonnaise held another spectacular show at the Music Museum that's packed with all the things you can expect from their 17-year career.
"You can't be right" if you thought the repeat concert was just going to be a complete rerun of the first! The band curated a new setlist and a new set of guests as well for #AkalainMoYunPart2.
Aside from the awesome Manila String Machine aiding the band from start to finish, I Belong To The Zoo returned with his own band this time! And guess what, Mayonnaise vocalist Monty Macalino joined the MYX Music Awards 2019 New Artist of the Year to perform their viral cover of Blink-182's "I Miss You" which they didn't do on the first show!
The night's headliner was also joined by their good friend Champ Lui-Pio as they sang Coldplay's "Yellow" as well as Hale's "Kung Wala Ka". For Monty, the OPM hit is "one of the most important and beautiful" songs ever written.
One of the most notably unexpected moments of the show was when Monty broke down while dedicating their latest single "Wag Mo Akong Iwan" to his mom who was in attendance. The frontman wrote the said song as well as the entire Gusto Ko Lang Kasama Ka Palagi Pero Hindi Pwede album as a tribute to his late father who passed away in 2017.
Before calling out the last special guest Barbie Almalbis, Monty shared how he fanboyed over the "Torpe" hitmaker during her Hungry Young Poets days back when he was still studying.
As it turns out, 'Akalain Mo 'Yun?' Part 2 served as the kickoff of #GustoKoLangMagTour3! The band is also set to perform at the Skydome for their 17th anniversary show this November with guests I Belong To The Zoo, This Band, and Sharlene San Pedro.
