NBA Player DAMIAN LILLARD Wants A Grammy
Portland Trailblazers point guard Damian Lillard has no intention of putting his other dream on hold.
The basketball star, who also lives an alternate life as a hip hop artist under the moniker Dame D.O.L.L.A., rolled out his ten-track third studio album& on August 9. As expected, Big D.O.L.L.A. received rave reviews from his friends and fans from both worlds.
Still, Dame admitted that he is more focused on winning the NBA title than getting recognition for his music. "I don't care about [winning a Grammy] maybe to the level I care about being the MVP or winning a championship," he explained to TMZ. "But I care about it in the sense of how many NBA All-Stars or max contract players can say, 'I legitimately won a Grammy?'... 'I was really taken serious as an artist.'"
He added, "I not thirsty for it or searching for it. But, I think like 10-15 years from now, I can look back and be like, 'I really won a Grammy.' Or, 'I really performed at the BET Awards.' Or, 'I really was [the] album of the year.' Stuff like that, I think about stuff like that."
No matter what Dame said, we do want to witness the first NBA player to accept one of the most prestigious awards in the world of music. So if you have time, make sure to plug into Big D.O.L.L.A. below. As Dame has said, "It all comes down to the support. I know how big play listing, and being able to get on those playlists is. I've gotten the support from my peers. I know they're listening and really respecting it."
