Hip-Hop Artist BECAUSE: "Sobrang Sarap Ng OPM"
Pinoy hip-hop’s rising star Because opened up about his genuine love for OPM during our fun chat. His strong fondness towards timeless OPM hits inspired him to write his latest single “PNE” which obviously pertains to Parokya Ni Edgar.
According to Because, "PNE" is “about road trips and vacation kasama ang mga tropa na malalapit.” But it’s not solely about Parokya, he admitted. The track is about that nostalgic feeling whenever the rapper and his buddies listen to their OPM idols.
“It’s about OPM classics Parokya Ni Edgar, Hale, Kamikazee. Kapag nagbabakasyon kayo ng tropa mo, hindi kumpleto kapag hindi mo sila pinapatugtog. It’s about nostalgia, memories kasama ang mga kaibigan mo,” he added.
When asked about his favorite PNE hits, he chose “Buloy” and “Para Sa’yo”. He also mentioned Hale's "Blue Sky" as one of his all-time favorites. “‘Yun ‘yung mga tipong tutugtugin n’yo sa classroom. Sobrang sarap ng OPM,” shared Because who grew up witnessing the band explosion during the early and mid 2000s.
In case you didn’t know, he has released a vertical video for "PNE". For the first time, he was really hands-on throughout the video making process, from the shot selection up to post production.
Because also teased that a follow to "PNE" will be released soon under Viva Music.
