THE VOWELS THEY ORBIT's Debut Single Is About All-Consuming Jealousy
We've heard lots of songs that tackle the feeling of jealousy over the years! Cue "Selos" by Sandwich as a really classic example.
And now, the debut single of up-and-coming band The Vowels They Orbit of the same title is born. The slow yet groovy tune packs a punch as it tells a story of a girl's one-sided jealousy that clouds her mind with negative thoughts. It was written by VTO's manager Darwin Hernandez who's also behind the hit song "Torete" and many other OPM songs.
We caught up with the band composed of Nikka Melchor on vocals and guitars, Hannah dela Cruz on keyboards and guitars, Jeremy Sayas on drums and vocals, Gene Santiago on lead guitar, and Patch Javier on bass during the "Selos" music video launch at 70's Bistro.
Asked about the concept of the music video, Nikka said that the entire idea came from the song's first line, "Binabaliw ako ng selos". "Medyo crazy, weird stuff 'yung nangyayari sa video," she explained since the lead character is being consumed by the unhealthy energy of jealousy.
Jeremy revealed that they were very excited in shooting the video along with the 8th Street Cinema team and the output exceeded their expectations since "everything went into place."
The VTO will also release an EP soon and they are super excited to give it their all for Orbiters. Get to know more about their single "Selos" and its official music below!
