'Avengers: Endgame' Is Returning To Cinemas To Go After 'Avatar' Record
Avengers: Endgame's initial run in cinemas has been jaw-droppingly epic but the hype seemingly downshifted the following weeks as new films like Aladdin and John Wick 3 entered the fray.
The film even shattered Titanic's box office record but it couldn't seem to keep the momentum going to finally dethrone another James Cameron film, Avatar. Now, Marvel Studios is making it clear that they want to dust off Avatar's 10-year box office reign. President Kevin Feige confirmed that the blockbuster will return to theaters "next weekend" with additional footage and get this: a post-credit scene! The re-release will also feature a tribute to Marvel Patriach Stan Lee. We'll ready our tissues this early!
Disney is re-releasing @Avengers #Endgame into theaters next week with extra end credit footage, to try and beat Avatar - they need $45 Million... Avatar’s re-release with added footage netted like $33 Million - will Marvel fans show up to push it over the edge?! pic.twitter.com/hsClSruTbi— Andy Signore (@andysignore) June 19, 2019
AVENGERS: ENDGAME globally stands at a $2.742B total, $45M away from AVATAR. pic.twitter.com/D6BGibxZiC— Marvel Stuff (@marveIstuff) June 16, 2019
So it looks as if #AvengersEndgame is 46 Million Dollars behind Avatar, perhaps a little behind surpassing it as the Number 1, highest grossing movie in Cinema History. The numbers have slowly been going up but can they do it? Its now or never. Its possible. #Avengers pic.twitter.com/hPqDRTy3iT— Alex (@UnrealEntGaming) June 17, 2019
So Avengers Endgame is getting a re-release with additional scenes at the end?— ⋆Fawful's Minion⋆ (@FawfulsMinion) June 19, 2019
Badass. Been wanting to see it again. Probably gonna beat Avatar after all.
Well, that fucker stayed in theaters for a YEAR, so it's cool to see Marvel bite back with an extension of their own.
An end-credit scene alone would lure fans into seeing the film again which currently has over 2.7 billion dollars under its belt. The re-release of Endgame will come one week before the premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
