DJ PATTY TIU Tries Her Hand At Acting In ‘KontrAdiksyon’
At this stage in the game, Patty Tiu already knows the DJ booth like the back of her hand, but not the same goes for her newfound career as an actress. The famed DJ will make her acting debut in the star-studded action film Kontradiksyon, taking on the role of a drug addict.
Despite not being too keen on getting involved in anything political and having no prior acting experience, Patty told MYX that she agreed to do the project right away because the movie's plot was "something I was super interested in." She explained further, "I think this movie is going to raise eyebrows [but] also going to raise awareness to what's really happening."
As for her role as a drug addict, Patty admitted that it was "hard to portray" but with the help of her co-stars and director Njel de Mesa, it all went smoother than expected.
"Definitely I have plans on studying [acting] kasi based on watching some of the clips, I know I can improve it pa," she said. "So before ako sumabak [sa next possible acting project], kelangan mag-aral pa ako ulit."
Kontradiksyon tells the story of Alexis (Jake Cuenca), a staunch human rights activist who ends up becoming an undercover drug enforcement agent but is actually a vigilante killer by night. To solve a murder, he then enlists the help of Jessica (Kris Bernal), a known drug user and pusher in the call centers and other high-end institutions.
The film also stars Katrina Halili, Ritz Azul, Arnold Reyes, and Paolo Paraiso. It arrives in theaters June 26. Until then, watch the trailer below.
