Fans And Co-Artists Rally Behind SHANTI DOPE Amidst "Amatz" Controversy!
After news broke out that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is pushing for Shanti Dope's new song "Amatz" to be banned nationwide, fans and musicians alike have expressed their support for the teen rapper.
Both Shanti's loyal supporters and contemporaries in the local music scene like Gabby Alipe, Ebe Dancel, and Zel Bautista see absolutely no reason for the song to be banned.
Then maybe, to be fair, we shouldn’t show action shows on tv as well, cuz it “promotes” violence. And elects actors into public office. Different but carries the same logic 🤔 #amatz #gagorderonartistry— Gabby Alipe (@udubGAB) May 23, 2019

Kung mababaw ka, Marijuana talaga papasok sa utak mo about sa "Amatz" ni Shanti Dope— dren gravides (@xakNiDren) May 24, 2019
Now we know that PDEA execs listen to #ShantiDope— Me Me Me I'm Imi (@MadameImi) May 24, 2019
So because this government can't go after big drug lords, it goes after the poor and artists like Shanti Dope? Huwaw.— Paolo Martinez (@unapaologetic) May 24, 2019
Facebook page Concerned Artists of the Philippines also aired their opinion about the issue. In a lengthy post, the page pointed out that it's not PDEA's job to critique music: "Hands off our music! Police the druglords, not our musicians! Defend artistic freedom!"
Sandwich frontman and Eraserheads drummer Raymund Marasigan also broke his silence, comparing the situation to when "Alapaap" and "Laklak" grew even more popular when the said Eheads and Teeth hits, respectively, were almost banned in 1994.

you should thank them👊🏽
Do you remember how it made alapaap and laklak even more popular? 🤣
