GARY VALENCIANO Reflects On Life A Year After Heart Surgery
It's been a year since Gary Valenciano underwent open heart surgery on May 6, 2018. In a video he posted on his Instagram account, the OPM icon went on to thank his family and friends, the team of doctors and therapists, as well as fans who hoped and prayed for his speedy recovery.
"I find it very hard to believe that the [surgery] was a year ago today," he said in the video. "And I can’t help but thank God for the way He showed His love upon me..."
He continued, "When you see me in front of any camera or on top of any stage, it’s God’s way of saying your prayers have been answered. I’m so excited to share more of what comes from this brand new heart to people like you. But for now, let me just say I love you and God bless you. And thank you."
The people here are just a few of the many who came to visit me, work on me, and pray with me. You know who you are. It’s from this newly strengthened heart that I say thank you. . Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Speaking to MYX back in April, Mr. Pure Energy shared his bout with depression during such trying times and how his reliance on God "really saw me through this particular time in my life." He added, "When you maintain a positive spirit, it's not also just here [mind], it's really the conscious effort to see things beyond what the eyes can see and to inject one's heart with hope."
Since making a full recovery, the 54-year-old total performer continued doing shows here and abroad with the same over-the-top energy before his health scare. He also served as a judge in the recently concluded World of Dance Philippines.
