He's Back! GARY VALENCIANO Reveals Depression After Heart Surgery And Cancer Diagnosis
The one and only "Mr. Pure Energy" Gary Valenciano is gearing up for his upcoming US tour which comes almost a year after his health scare.
As some of you may recall, Gary underwent heart surgery in May 2018 and bravely revealed he was also diagnosed with kidney cancer.
The "Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak" singer said he's been recovering really well, thanks to the support of his family, friends, and the team of doctors who look after him. "It's been challenging because it takes doctors some time to balance the medications. How much I'm supposed to take in, how much I'm supposed to put out but I'm on the right track."
The 2008 MYX Magna awardee also shared in our MYXclusive interview that he went through another battle during those tough times. "It wasn't just an attack on my physical state but my mental state as well. I went through some depression right after the surgery which apparently does happen."
But being the high-spirited person that he is, Gary shared just how he was able to overcome arguably one of the toughest chapters in his life. "When you maintain a positive spirit, it's not also just here [mind], it's really the conscious effort to see things beyond what the eyes can see and to inject one's heart with hope."
The OPM great added that his unwavering faith has helped him bounce back. "My reliance on God who really saw me through this particular time in my life."
His upcoming concert tour entitled He's Back will also see him share the stage with Katrina Velarde aka Suklay Diva and The Fearless Diva herself, Jona. It will kick off in Las Vegas this April 12.
