By now, you've probably heard of the highly addicting mobile game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (ML), which has most likely taken over the lives of your friends—or maybe even your own!

Well, news flash everyone, the guys of Sponge Cola are no exception to the millions of ML gamers worldwide who treat their phones like a gaming console in their free time.

During our MYXclusive interview, the veteran Sea Of Lights rock quartet opened up about how they got so hooked on Mobile Legends, even frontman Yael Yuzon tweeted his very own piano cover of the game's theme music, while his wife Karylle danced and did some of the heroes' moves in the background!

The MYX Music Awards 2019 nominees revealed that they only learned how to play ML earlier this year as a requirement for a gig, which happens to be at the “Weeknight Showdown Showmatch”—a weekly ML tournament organized by professional E-Sports organization Mineski.

Clueless as to what ML was before, guitarist Erwin "Armo" Armovit admitted they were reluctant to try it at first, but eventually gave in: "When we got into it, parang, 'Wow! Okay pala 'to!' So tapos na yung gig and three months later, we're still playing the same game. On the bigger picture kasi, we found something that we can do together and something that brings us together as a team and also something that helps with a lot of idle time."

“Let’s say there’s a show tapos medyo late, parang, ‘Okay lang, sige lang!’ Kasi as long as may signal kami (so we can play ML), we’re good,” added Yael, who recently tweeted his feelings about reaching the "Epic" rank in the game, revealing his in-game name "poopman."

Armo continued to share how their ML addiction benefits the band: "It builds teamwork. It builds familiarity with each other."

“And not just sa amin as bandmates, kasi kasama rin yung crew namin, yung road manager namin... When we travel kasi we're like a group of ten, and I think like eight of us play,” explained Yael, who also changed his Instagram bio to an ML-related chat quipped during the interview: "Sori vovo zilong namn." Only ML players would get it.

But it seems their bassist Gosh Dilay is the real MVP! Check out his tweet showing off his MVP medals in a series of losses, even relating to OKC Thunder's prized player: "Ganito pala feeling maging Westbrook."

Nominated for Rock Video Of The Year for "Kunwari" at the MYX Music Awards 2019, Sponge Cola also revealed why they're always excited to attend the MMAs! Find out more, including which of their fellow artists also play ML, in our MYXclusive interview below! Also, continue to vote for them here on!
