MILEY CYRUS, THE KILLERS, IMAGINE DRAGONS, HALSEY Will Headline 'Woodstock 50' And Fans Aren't Too Sold
The Woodstock Music Festival will mark its return after 10 years and the 2019 edition of the event is set to be a grand spectacle as it will also coincide with the golden anniversary of the original 'Woodstock'.
The artist lineup for the August event will see the gathering of some of today's biggest and finest musical acts, with Miley Cyrus, The Killers, Chance The Rapper, Imagine Dragons, Jay-Z and Halsey all set to headline the 3-day extravaganza.
It will also see the return of Carlos Santana, John Fogerty, Country Joe McDonald, Melanie, Canned Heat, Dead & Company and Hot Tuna who all played at the original Woodstock in 1969.
But the lineup is causing so much controversy on social media and instead of being in a festive mood for the upcoming show, fans are expressing their disappointment over the choice of artists they went with. Some even say the lineup is pretty underwhelming and couldn't help but compare it with the previous editions of the festival. Whoa.
the lineup for the woodstock 50th anniversary festival is so bad it’s insulting to the first woodstock— Michelle Confusione (@michconfusione) March 18, 2019
Stop saying people can’t be mad about the Woodstock lineup. There’s 58492738 other music festivals where rap, r&b & pop artists can perform. The whole point of Woodstock was to keep it in folk & rock roots.— 𝓫𝓻𝓲 ✰ (@simpIyqueen) March 20, 2019
the Woodstock 50 lineup looks like it was curated by someone who's only exposure to music has been through the Grammy's "Best Rock Performance" category between 2010-2013— bianca davino (@biancccadavino) March 20, 2019
this is not what i would expect the lineup for Woodstock to look like.....give me hippie shit or gtfo https://t.co/L5kRhGMmYa— m (@mikaylerrrrr) March 19, 2019
It’s like the people who made the Woodstock lineup didn’t know what Woodstock was. Where is Lana Del Rey? Gambino? Maybe even Demarco? Where is that 60/70s vibe? Give me an epic revival for one of the greatest rock festivals of all time, like geez.— leya. (@asmadasarabbit) March 20, 2019
The Woodstock lineup is extremely underwhelming and even more disappointing.— Joey Judd (@JuddyJoe) March 20, 2019
Some of these acts I've personally seen before. A good amount of these I've never heard of.— Darcy Armstrong (@DArm91) March 20, 2019
For a 50th anniversary Woodstock this is very underwhelming.
1999 lineup by far over this. https://t.co/W1JDDwLJgz
Woodstock 50 happens from August 16-18 at Watkins Glen, New York.
