Co-Creator Of Marvel's First Pinay Superhero "Wave" Wants ANGEL LOCSIN To Portray Her!
Last week at SXSW, comic book giant Marvel announced that they've created a new character – their first Filipina superhero named "Wave"! Although she's yet to make her debut, fans are already raving about the character!
As announced at @sxsw, I'm thrilled to share the great @leinilyu's stunning design of WAVE, Marvel's new Filipino superhero! Gorgeous colors by @sunnygho! She'll appear for the first time in WAR OF THE REALMS: NEW AGENTS OF ATLAS #1 in May, with art by Gang-Hyuk Lim! pic.twitter.com/cZhwXbQ1FG— Greg Pak (@gregpak) March 9, 2019
Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin was apparently among the people who were excited about Marvel giving birth to the Pinay character. Angel said in a tweet, "I'm excited to learn more about this character!" Adding, "Regarding her costume, I wonder what’s the inspiration behind the design?"
I'm excited to learn more about this character! I ❤️ that her weapon of choice is a Kampilan, w/c is believed to be the sword Lapu-Lapu used to strike down Ferdinand Magellan. So, 👍🏻 for that! Regarding her costume, I wonder what’s the inspiration behind the design?— Angel Locsin (@143redangel) March 10, 2019
It immediately caught the attention of one of Wave's creators, Leinil Yu, who responded to Angel and shared more details about the character. He even said he'd love to see The General's Daughter star portray the heroine and all we can say is: WE'RE ALL FOR IT! After all, she is considered the country's action-drama queen so it would be a no-brainer, right?
It’s a collaboration of ideas between me, greg and Marvel editorial:). Would love to see you as wave, Angel!— Leinil Yu (@leinilyu) March 18, 2019
Angel shared the Twitter thread on her Instagram story and said couldn't stop smiling!
According to its creators, Wave aka Pearl Pangan is a Cebu native who has the ability to use water and tech-based powers. She'll make her debut in the comic series War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas.
