It's Wakanda foreva and evaaa! Black Panther took home multiple Oscar wins and made history at the 91st Academy Awards ceremony!
With Ruth Carter and Hannah Beachler bagging the awards for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design respectively, they became the first-ever African-American recipients of the said categories!
"This has been a long time coming," Ruth said as she accepted her award. "Marvel may have created the first black superhero, but through costume design we turned him into an African king. It’s been my life’s honor to create costumes. Thank you to the Academy, thank you for honoring African royalty and the empowered way women can look and lead on screen."
Black Panther also won Best Original Score and though it may have failed to secure Best Picture, the three trophies are good enough to make history as Marvel's first Oscar wins. Congratulations!
