The 1975 ruled the 2019 Brit Awards, bagging two recognitions by the end of the night.

The "Sincerity is Scary" artists won the British Album of the Year for their latest studio effort A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and Best British Group, making them three-time Brit award winners. They outlasted other nominess such as Gorillaz, George Ezra, Anne-Marie, Jorja Smith Arctic Monkeys, Years & Years, and Little Mix.

During the band's acceptance speech, Matty Healy thanked his girlfriend who, according to him, was responsible for him coming up with their songs: "Thank you to my beautiful girlfriend for letting me write that stuff down."

Matty also took the time to thank their fellow nominee Arctic Monkeys for "still being such an inspiring and relevant band in 2019."
