Chito Miranda shared yet another trivia for all of their Parokya Ni Edgar fans and, this time around, he shared the story behind their song “Ok Lang Ako."

The PNE vocalist revealed that he actually wrote the song for Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, whom he happened to bump into with her husband and fellow MYX Magna Awardee Ogie Alcasid.

"Years ago, nakita ko si Ogie at Regine sa [mall] na bumibili ng yogurt. Nag-hello ako at nakipag-kwentuhan sandali. Ogie mentioned na Universal Records na rin si Regine (same as Parokya) at gumagawa na sya ng bagong album, and asked kung pwede ba ako sumulat ng isang kanta para sa album ni Regine. Sabi ko 'ayoko nga,'" the naturally comedic frontman quipped.

"Joke lang...syempre sabi ko 'oo ba!' (si Regine Velasquez yun, chong! Could you imagine writing a song tapos kakantahin ng Regine Velasquez???),” Chito recalled on his lengthy post. “Ok Lang Ako” was then recorded by Regine and was included on her 2010 album Fantasy.

He also shared how they ended up recording their own acoustic version of the song in their 2010 album Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers by agreeing that the band will not release it as a single: "Ang problema, masyado kong nagustuhan yung demo na ginawa ko. Tinanong ko si Regine at ang Universal Records kung ok lang ba na gumawa din kami ng sarili naming version, at isama yung version namin sa bagong album ng Parokya."

“Pumayag naman sila (syempre...kanta ko yun eh hahaha) pero naki-usap sila na kung pwede, wag daw naming gamitin bilang single yung kanta kasi yun daw yung balak nilang gawing single for Regine's album," shared Chito who continued to point out that he was perfectly fine with this setup, as long as they're able to record their own version of the song.

So why was the song never released as a single? Chito revealed the simple and understandably valid reason: "Before ma-release ni Regine yung kanta as a single, they found out that she was pregnant, and mas minabuti nila na magpahinga nalang si Regine para sa baby, instead na mag-ikot-ikot sa Pilipinas para mag-promote ng single."

Listen to "Ok Lang Ako" here and experience what Chito describes as "tagos hanggang buto kapag tinamaan ka" and one of his most favorite songs he's ever written:
