EMMA STONE Stuns Anew In Oscar-Nominated Film 'The Favourite'
Taking on a role in a period film can be quite challenging - especially if it is a reimagining of historical events from a widely-known era. Well, for Emma Stone, it seemed quite easy-peasy.
The Favourite, helmed by Yorgos Lanthimos, takes place during the reign of Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) - a time which vividly remembers women taking over the throne and proactively participating in political matters.
Lady Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Malborough (Rachel Weisz), was seen as the Queen's most trusted ally since the very beginning until her cousin, Abigail Hill (Emma Stone), came into picture seeking work in the Palace. And just like that, things started going downhill.
Working alongside equally talented actors such as Rachel Weisz and strong Oscar contender Olivia Colman, Emma Stone proves time and again that she could definitely deliver just about anything in a film that veers away from the usual depiction of elegance in royalty.
Plus, you don't want to miss some of the scenes of Emma Stone with her onscreen husband and Taylor Swift's real-life beau Joe Alwyin in the film.
Indeed, The Favourite is something that would take you on an enjoyable comedic ride of inaccurate yet believable scenarios between three women empowered enough to let the world know why it's important to see them in power.
