5 Reasons Why You Must See BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
Queen's legacy is immortalized on the big screen with the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. The film follows the band's formation up to their famed Live Aid performance at London's Wembley Stadium in 1985.
The film has garnered positive reviews, with a lot of people pretty convinced that it will earn various awards! Quite frankly, we agree! Here are 5 reasons why you shouldn't miss the film!
The surviving Queen members are deeply involved in the project. News about the biopic first surfaced in 2010 with comedian Sacha Baron Cohen already set to play Freddie Mercury. It experienced production delays and casting changes after the Borat actor exited the project in 2013, citing creative differences with Brian May and Roger Taylor who had reservations about the film's creative direction and approach. A lot of names were considered to replace Cohen but it was Mr. Robot actor Rami Malek who eventually landed the part in 2016.
It's not just about Freddie Mercury. Contrary to what others may think and what the initial teaser trailers suggest, the film isn't entirely about Freddie himself. The biopic follows Queen's humble beginnings and how they reached superstar status. We also get introduced to the key people responsible for the English band's rise, fall and eventual resurgence following their solo ventures in the '80s.
The actors nailed their respective roles. The four actors who played Queen - Rami Malek, Gwilym Lee, Joe Mazello and Ben Hardy - were handpicked by OG members Brian May and Roger Taylor. How they transformed into the legendary band is truly amazing. From the makeup and wardrobe, all the way to capturing each band member's movements and mannerisms, the actors pretty much delivered.

How on earth Gwilym Lee managed to replicate Brian May’s speaking voice quite so accurately will remain a mystery, it’s just as uncanny as the matching of Mercury’s vocals to Rami Malek’s performance.pic.twitter.com/2s7bkVWY5r— Fitri Rizki Sugianto (@doubleqiew) October 30, 2018
And what struck me most, more than anything else in the film, was how Joseph Mazello got John Deacon’s smile! Mazello absolutely inhabits Deacon’s innocent, slightly terrified slightly, and bewildered sensitivity.pic.twitter.com/VUif8UuCPH— Fitri Rizki Sugianto (@doubleqiew) October 30, 2018

Queen's timeless hits will attract a whole new generation of listeners. Even if you're not a diehard Queen follower, Bohemian Rhapsody is set to convert you into an instant fan. After you're done seeing the film, you'll be blasting their songs on repeat for sure!
The recreation of Queen's legendary Live Aid set will blow you away. According to the film's stars, they had the unenviable task of recreating one of rock 'n' roll's most iconic moments - on the first day of filming! Nope, they didn't use stock footage nor CGI magic to pull it off. It's really the actors who recreated Queen's astonishing Live Aid performance movement per movement. It's mind-blowing how they did everything ever so accurately with just 5 weeks of preparation.
