Amidst calling out JK Labajo for allegedly tagging him in a tweet about "gayness," Darren Espanto has received a handful of criticisms for his own use of the word "bakla." Spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo was among those who reacted that "gay is not an insult."

The "Poison" singer issued an apology on Twitter writing, "I didn’t mean to use the word “bakla” as a derogatory term. I’m sorry if this has offended anyone." He then explained what triggered his initial reactions. "I’ve been bashed with this since I was in The Voice Kids (I was 12) pero wala kayong narinig. I’m 17 now, kakapagod na rin."

Darren continued the series of tweets by responding to JK publicizing their private conversation. "Since pinost mo na din naman yung chat natin dito (which you’ve deleted), nung una hacker, ngayon edited? Pero nag appear sa mismong account mo? And even if I wasn’t the one you were talking about in PBB, hindi parin tama ang magsalita ng masama tungkol sa iba. @KarlosLabajo."

"Hindi ako lalaban sa’yo pagdating sa bastusan kasi alam ko naman na bastos ka gaya ng sabi mo. Wag mo rin sasabihin na tinuring mo akong kapatid nung The Voice kasi ang plastic nun." He also challenged his "brother" to face him in court. "Sa korte nalang tayo magkita kung di ka masyadong busy. Sikat mo na eh, "brother”! @KarlosLabajo"
