Cinematographer Of "A Star Is Born" Starring LADY GAGA Is A True Blue Pinoy
After serving as the Director of Photography for Darren Aronofsky’s films Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Noah, Black Swan and mother, Matthew Libatique proudly returns as the cinematographer for Bradley Cooper's directorial debut A Star Is Born starring Lady Gaga.
Dubbed by critics as yet another contender in several award-giving bodies, A Star Is Born follows the love story of Jack and Ally whose artistic souls get caught up in a complex relationship.
“He’s an artist. I got to meet him through Darren Aronofsky, who he has done many films with, and we hit it off right away. I told him we wouldn’t have a lot of days and we’d be moving fast, here’s the color palette I see, here’s a little about the opening composition, and he just got it,” Bradley Cooper said of Libatigue in a press release by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Apparently, Libatique has incorporated various shooting techniques, including handheld, Steadicam, and long tracking shots among others.
“Thank God for Matty and his crew, they were incredible,” Cooper emphasizes. “And our camera operator, Scott Sakamoto. I found myself watching him operate, he’s like a dancer. One of the greatest of all time.”
