GUJI LORENZANA Releases Music Video Dedicated To His Late Mother Who Died Of Cancer
Singer-actor Guji Lorenzana released a heartfelt music video for “Be Alright” - a song he originally wrote for his late mother who battled with cancer for nearly two years.
During the launch of the music video held at the Upperhouse in BGC, Guji shared his inspiration behind the concept of the music video which featured memories of his mom through photographs and clips of several cancer patients and survivors from around the world.
“I wrote this song two years ago when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. When we found out she had cancer, I wrote this para ma-encourage siya to go to all the chemotherapy, for all the things that were happening with her, all the treatments. And ‘yun na nga, she became cancer-free. And this past January, her cancer came back. And the song became a whole new meaning to me. I wanted to let her know that she’ll be okay and then this past June, she passed away,” Guji said in an exclusive interview with MYX.
“So when we did the music video, we decided to get in touch with various cancer organizations throughout the world. And it became my advocacy to send their messages of hope and encouragement to everybody who’s fighting from cancer, everybody’s who’s going through treatments, and all the survivors and the families who are going through this terrible disease,” he added.
In the music video, the cancer patients held papers in their hands with messages of hope, love, and gratitude among others.
“I told them na write a message on a piece of paper what you want to encourage people about. And the messages were written there showing the message to the viewers. So in the video, you will see different messages on a plackard from various organizations, patients, survivors, people that are fighting. In fact, may mga kids dito in the music video that have gone viral, that are patients from the States, from other countries, and their messages,” he stated.
At the end of the music video, Guji thanked several non-profit organizations whose aim is to help cancer survivors and patients including Be The Match, LetsFCancer.com, Pink Rack Project, The Carewell Community Foundation, Corridor of Hope, Philippine Society of Medical Oncology, and World Child Center.
