DAVE BAUTISTA Shares How He Feels About Disney Possibly Not Reinstating "GOTG" Director JAMES GUNN
The Guardians of the Galaxy drama continues as star Dave Bautista aired his grievances anew regarding director James Gunn's firing.
Dave, who plays Drax, was among the first to show support for the director in light of his controversial exit from the film franchise over old tweets. Despite the cast's joint statement calling for the reinstatement of Gunn, it was reported by multiple sources last week that Disney has no plans of having him back for Vol. 3.
And now, the wrestler-turned-actor has tweeted that he will do what he is legally obligated to do but "it's also pretty nauseating to work for someone who'd empower a smear campaign by fascists."
I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis . That’s just how I feel https://t.co/Ym4FwruVDu— Dave Bautista (@DaveBautista) August 5, 2018
Meanwhile, Kurt Russell - who played Ego in Vol. 2 - spoke with Variety to finally break his silence regarding the issue.
“Sad, but it’s a part of our fabric now and I get it,” said the veteran actor. “But I do think we’re getting a little too sensitive on maybe some of the wrong people.”
“You have to realize that when you are in that world as a comedian, a writer, whatever you’re always stretching the boundaries and trying to find something which lead him to something that the world loves, which is Guardians of the Galaxy. He has a wonderful heart and a wonderful mind. I hope he is forgiven.”
