Disney Reportedly Won't Reinstate Director James Gunn For 'GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3'
Although it was reported earlier this week that Disney might actually consider having James Gunn back for 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3', some sources claim that the initial reports that recently surfaced online are false.
Variety reports that despite the tremendous support Gunn has been getting all over social media from the online petition 'Re-Hire James Gunn' that has already gotten over 360,000 signatures, Disney is still unlikely to reinstate the director.
"The feeling within both Disney and Marvel is that the dozens of so-called jokes that Gunn made about pedophilia and rape are unacceptable in the #MeToo era and are not in line with Disney’s family-friendly image."
On the other hand, GOTG actors and fans alike are still hopeful that Disney would change their minds, but considering the third Guardians film will start rolling soon, chances of Gunn returning to the Director's chair are getting slimmer.
Gunn instantaneously got fired from directing the franchise because of the jokes he made about rape and pedophilia several years back. His Comic-Con appearance even got pulled out the last minute because of the issue.
