We Still Can't Get Over CELINE DION's Incredible Two-Night Concert In Manila!
Manila felt the power of iconic singer Celine Dion for not just one but two nights at the Mall of Asia Arena!
For a country so passionate about singing competitions, videoke sessions, and music in general, the Canadian songstress is definitely a household name in the Philippines. It's no surprise that when Ovation Productions announced her concert last February, tickets sold out fast and another night was added.
Celine’s concert was definitely worth the wait and gathered fans from different generations. After her standout opener “Power Of Love”, she happily shouted “We made it! We finally made it!” since it’s her very first time in Manila. “Don’t ask me why it took me so long. I don’t know. I guess I live too far away. Thank you so much for your patience.”
Aside from performing her greatest hits like “Because You Loved Me”, “That’s The Way It Is”, and “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”, her show was also filled with her comical banter. She even shared how fellow Canadian star Ryan Reynolds wrote her a letter to invite her to perform the Deadpool 2 theme song “Ashes”!
At 50 years old and after more than three decades in the music industry, Celine still belts out those intensely high notes effortlessly. Her live renditions of “Beauty And The Beast” and “All By Myself” received very loud applause from the sold out crowd!
She also sang “Recovering”, a song which P!nk wrote for her during a difficult time in her personal life, the Pinoy favorite “To Love You More”, plus surprising covers of “Kiss” and “Purple Rain” by Prince, and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough” by The Supremes!
Of course, her concert wouldn’t be complete without performing the Titanic hit “My Heart Will Go On”!
The diva delivered a very heartfelt speech in front of her fans, saying it felt awesome to be here even if she was a bit “delayed”. "But when you really think about it, we don’t live far away. Because tonight, we were one. Tonight there are no barriers, nothing is going to stop us from being together,” she said while wiping tears from her eyes.
She also explained that touring is hard, but it’s way harder to say goodbye to her fans here. The crowd appreciated her kind words and shouted that they love the singer as well.
“The last thing that I want to tell you is I love you very much,” she professed before launching into her last song, a heartwarming a capella performance of "Can't Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley.
