Only 90s Kids Will Understand Why We're Excited About The 'Rugrats' Revival!
Rugrats is one of those classic cartoon shows that 90s kids would never forget! And we're thrilled that the kids of this generation will finally get to experience the fun that Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica brought to us back then.
YES! You heard it right: Rugrats is making its return! Earlier today, Nickelodeon announced the revival of the beloved animated series with a 26-episode order and a live-action movie that will be produced by Paramount Players. The show will be brought back with the help of its original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain, Variety reports.
Sarah Levy, interim president of Nickelodeon, spoke about the reboot: “Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures. What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”
Though the premiere date has not been announced yet, the production is already underway on the new series. Meanwhile, the film, which will be helmed by David Goodman, is set for a November 2020 release.
