ALESSIA CARA Opens Up About The Misery Of Adulthood In "Growing Pains" Video
Alessia Cara encapsulates the misery of young adulthood in her latest anthemic pop single, "Growing Pains," and translates the journey of growing up in the track's accompanying music video.
In the clip, the Grammy Award-winning artist is seen lying on a tarp-covered floor while holding a bouquet of flowers and wearing an oversized shirt. She then encounters mask-wearing and grey-suited individuals who pushes her around until she gets into a medical table. At the end, Alessia finds herself wearing the same grey suit as the others.
"I wrote ['Growing Pains'] during a time where I felt sort of lost in everything I was doing, lost in my job and in my responsibility," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I knew I was supposed to be happy because I was fulfilling my dreams, but I just wasn't quite happy with myself." Alessia, however, titled the song "Growing Pains" to remind herself and others that pain is not forever, and something you can grow out of.

"Growing Pains" is the first single off her forthcoming sophomore album, The Pains of Growing, which she said is "about facing [her problems] head on and accepting them fully instead of suppressing them."
