HALE Begins New Chapter With 'Alon' Album!
For a band that defined an era, Hale treats their albums tantamount to journals of certain periods in time. Every release reflects their current state. Following the 2015 comeback EP Time & Space, their latest full-length album Alon is a great testament to how much they've evolved.
According to Hale during the official launch of Alon at 12 Monkeys, they're just so proud at how this record came to fruition. They began working on it since mid-2016 and originally planned to release it last year.
Now a five-piece band with the addition of former Silent Sanctuary violinist Chino David, their songwriting process did not really change. “It’s pretty much the same. “We carry our own weight and we look out for each other,” said guitarist and main songwriter Roll Martinez.
Upon listening to Alon, you’ll notice that it's loaded with happy songs. According to vocalist Champ Lui Pio, they're just genuinely happy as a band and as individuals at this point in time.
They're also grateful for the success of the title track “Alon” which was used in the 2017 MMFF entry Siargao and eventually got nominated for Media Sountrack of The Year in the MYX Music Awards 2018.
“It wasn’t intended to be released as a standalone single, more of a prequel for the album. And a lot of good things happened... so we’re just really thankful that people have embraced the song,” said Champ during our MYXclusive interview.
The band played a very long set during the album launch, revisiting their old hits and performing some of their new songs live for the first time. They're planning& to go on tour to promote Alon which is composed of 10 tracks including "My Beating Heart” and “Simula Hanggang Huli”.
