EMINEM Upsets Fans For Using Gunshot Sounds During Music Festival Performance
Admit it or not, recent attacks in multiple festivals and concerts has everyone on edge. So when fans heard what seemed like gunshots during Eminem's headlining set at the Bonnaroo Festival, several people ducked and panicked.
In a video taken during the rap icon's track “Kill You” from The Marshall Mathers LP, people can be heard screaming after the gunfire-like sound effects.
Many then took to social media to slam Eminem for the realistic gunfire sounds which has some fans shaken up while there were also those who came to his defense, pointing out that the rapper has been using the effects for years. See differing tweets below.
Being at a festival/concert in these current times brings new concerns & fears. Had to leave @Eminem set after 3rd gunshot at @Bonnaroo cuz panic was setting in my section (front pit). Extremely realistic &scary! Would have been good to have a warning before show. #irresponsible— Cristi Williams (@ShadingLimelite) June 10, 2018

Eminem was trending on twitter because some pussies couldn't handle the gunshot sound effects on his show last night. Eminem basically is trending for being EMINEM and I love it 🙌🙌🐐— Shady Times (@SlimShadyTime21) June 10, 2018
coming from a performing stand point, i get the effect of sound effects on stage, but there’s a certain point that cross’s the line. i’m one of eminem’s number 1 fans but to hear 3 gun shots coming straight from his set had me scared af. not gonna lie. especially in this world...— M (@macykatemusic) June 10, 2018
Eminem's camp issued a statement shortly after, explaining that the sounds came from pyrotechnics and had been used in his shows over the past 10 years. "Contrary to inaccurate reports, Eminem does not use gunshot sound effects during his live show," the statement reads. "The effect used by Eminem in his set at Bonnaroo was a pyrotechnic concussion which creates a loud boom. He has used this effect—as have hundreds other artists—in his live show for over 10 years, including previous US festival dates in 2018 without complaint."
