"He Was Just Everything You Would Hope For To Be": 'Twerk It Like Miley' Collaborator CHRISTOPHER On Meeting ED SHEERAN
Karen Jane Ng
Meet Christopher. He's the other man that got you like 'wow' in the 2014 dance anthem "Twerk It Like Miley" with American singer-songwriter Brandon Beal.
"I remember (Brandon) called one day and he was like, 'Dude check this out' and he played me the drum of "Twerk It Like Miley" and I was like, 'Yo I need to be on that song'," the 26-year-old act recalled during a phone interview with MYXph. The duo were already long time friends and collaborators prior to the project and we're glad they came up with this beat:
From the worldwide successful hit, the Danish singer moves on to his upcoming fourth album (that includes new collab with Brandon) starting off with the release of first single "Bad" last month which ironically doesn't sound bad, not at all.
Christopher always knew music is where he belonged. "I discovered my passion for music when I was about 10 years old... Then I started picking up the guitar when I was 12, then I got signed when I was 17 and that’s when things really started to move for me," he narrated. "And that’s when I thought, 'Okay maybe I could really do this as a career'."
He began his course by posting song covers on the internet first with Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" before turning up for an unannounced audition at his agency. And that courageous attempt at a performance did the trick for him, btw.
While he's been in the industry for quite sometime already and has already been given a share of the spotlight, Christopher never forgot those that inspired him to be where he stands now. John Mayer, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Ed Sheeran still holds a special place in his heart.
That tells you how "happier" he was when got to start a conversation with one of them. "I have met Ed Sheeran," he said. "I was able to meet him after his show and he was really a cool dude. I think we ended up talking for like 20 minutes."
"He was just everything you would hope for to be... He was just such a sweetheart." he added then shared hopes of collaborating with Ed and others in the future. "It will be such an honor to get in a room and write with these people."
Christopher, who had visited Manila in 2016, spoke of his desire to play a live show for his Pinoy fans the next time he sets foot here. Check out our MYXclusive interview with the popstar below and also learn more about his new album in the works:
