TAYLOR SWIFT Gives Empowering Speech About Being Branded A "Snake" And Overcoming Bullying
Taylor Swift got emotional during the opening night of Reputation Stadium Tour in Arizona. In a speech, the 28-year-old superstar opened up to her fans opened up about "really low times" after she was branded a snake.
"A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media, and it caught on," Tay said in fan-recorded clip. "Then, a lot of people were calling me a lot of things on social media. And I went through some really low times for awhile because of it. I went through some times when I didn't know if I was going to get to do this anymore."
In 2016, Kim Kardashian called the Reputation artist a "snake" after the latter denied having a prior conversation with Kanye West about his controversial song "Famous". The 37-year-old reality star posted videos on Snapchat of the private phone call between the two musicians to prove her and her husband's side of the story.
"I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name-calling to bully you on social media, and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn't have to defeat you," she continued. "It can strengthen you instead."
She added, "And I think something that came out of it that was good is that I learned a really important lesson that I've been telling you from the stage for about 10 years, but I never had to learn it so harshly myself. And that lesson has to do with how much you value your reputation."
"I think that the lesson is that you shouldn't care so much if you feel misunderstood by a lot of people who don't know you, as long as you feel understood by the people who do know you -- the people who will show up for you, the people who see you as a human being," she said as her fans continued to cheer her on. "So thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to get to know me, for showing up for me, for seeing me as a human being."

Support from fans also poured for Tay on social media.
I've been really stressed and down lately for many different reasons and screaming Taylor Swift's lyrics for 2 hours alleviated most of that. Also she gave a speech about something that really hit home to me. I know a lot of you aren't fond of her but she means a lot to me ❤— caleb (@calebsmaughan) May 9, 2018
Apparently Taylor Swift can’t talk about personal struggles anymore without “shading” someone. The speech was relateable to millions of people (especially kids) who get harassed online. Just because someone reflects on an experience doesn’t make it an attack.— Chris Swiftie™🏳️🌈 (@HuffleBoy) May 9, 2018
Did you even read her speech? She didn't claim to be a victim, she said if someone called you a name gain strength instead of giving up. Here's some advice quit passing judgement on someone you don't even know. I'm sure like me, we have no right to throw stones.— BC (@bridgedawn69) May 9, 2018
I'm sorry but Taylor Swift really ended Kim Kardashian and Kanye West by giving inspirational speech and spreading love instead of hate, didn't diss anyone unlike above mentioned idiot who literally said "Fuck Taylor Swift" on his concert.#QueenTaylor #EndedHatersWithLove pic.twitter.com/QbPO1fPNTX— ♡ oɥsɐW ♡ (@EyesOnLovato) May 10, 2018
