Meet The 13 New Faces Of STAR MAGIC CIRCLE 2018
Year after year, ABS-CBN Star Magic produces artists that could very well be the next John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo of their generation. Although the showbiz industry can be a very demanding environment, these 13 individuals have gone through heartaches and letdowns, and emerged victorious in the end. Their journey to super stardom is just about to start, so let's bear witness to how they will success in their craft.
Meet the 13 newest faces of the Star Magic Circle 2018:
The year is just starting, but Donny Pangilinan already has projects lined up including his debut film Walwal and his debut soap opera Playhouse. According to the 20-year-old host-singer-actor triple threat, "As long as masaya [mga supporter ko], I'm very happy." Our very own MYX VJ also promised fans that he would put his heart out in whatever opportunity that comes his way.
Although Leila Alcasid, the daughter of OPM Royalty Ogie Alcasid, is currently more focused on her music career—check out her debut single "Completely In Love"—she still wants to work on her acting chops. The 20-year-old, who learned her Tagalog watching Kathryn Bernardo's and Daniel Padilla's movies, dreams of acting alongside both actors someday.
You might have noticed Charlie Dizon from her minor roles in the films “Finally Found Someone,” “Loving in Tandem” and “Seven Sundays”. But you will be seeing more of the 21-year-old sweetheart in the newest teleserye Bagani as the third wheel to the LizQuen love team. "Sobrang kinakabahan po talaga ako sa bashing," admitted Charlie. "Pero nakikita ko po paano magwork ang LizQuen so sobrang fan po nila ako. Sana po maintindihan ng fans na work lang talaga."
A lot of doors has opened for Tony Labrusca despite failing to make it to the Top 5 of Pinoy Boyband Superstar. An even bigger opportunity landed on Tony's feet when he snagged the role of Jake, a werewolf, in the recently-concluded teleserye La Luna Sanggre. Now, Tony has challenged himself to prove to people that he deserves his spot in the showbiz industry. "It's always been my dream to inspire people so I hope I can do that with my art and my work."
While most of her batchmates dream of landing a role in a drama, former Pinoy Big Brother 737 housemate Zonia Mejia wishes to star in a fantasy-oriented project and hopefully as a mermaid. Although she did not get a mermaid tail, Zonia, soon after she got out of the PBB House, became a mainstay in the teen soap LuvU and afternoon drama The Promise of Forever.
Patty Mendoza is a natural. The University of Santo Tomas alumna knows how to pose for the camera—thanks to years of experience in commercial modeling. That confidence might one day just be what she would need once she fulfills her dream of working with veterans John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.
"I'm really comfortable in music, but I really want to venture into acting, like serious acting," said Pinoy Boyband Superstar finalist Markus Paterson. He hopes to someday star in a an action-packed movie or teleserye. For now, the 19-year-old juggles his time between taping for the daytime serye Sana Dalawa Ang Puso and working as a Tarsier Records artist.
With an acting résumé that includes various independent and mainstream films, Anna Luna already seemed to be a "seasoned actor" as compared to her batchmates. But for the 22-year-old, joining Star Magic means she can now touch a bigger audience outside of a theater or a cinema house. Anna hopes to finally land a lead role in a movie project someday.
Better watch out for Daniela Stranner! Despite the shy smile and pretty face, this 15-year-old can definitely kick your ass in football.
From this group of beautiful men and women, Henz Villaraiz undoubtedly stands out. And that's probably why he was the one of the chosen few that caught the attention of Mr. M! Aside from working on his music career, the 18-year-old is also hard at work in Sana Dalawa Ang Puso with love team partner Ylona Garcia.
Chantal Videla is not afraid to dream big. In fact, the 5'5" Fil-Argentinian hopes to reach the same level of success as her idol Liza Soberano.
Yasmyne Suarez is very serious about acting. In fact, the 20-year-old enrolled in New York University as a theater student to further her craft. She wants to touch the hearts of her audience, hopefully as the lead actress in an Olivia Lamasan-directed film.
Karl Gabriel wants to be his own person. That's what he said when people started noticing his resemblance to the Teen King. "Wala naman pong problema sa'kin if may mga taong magsabi po na kamukha ko po si Daniel," explains the mechanical engineering student. "Gusto ko lang po ibigay lahat ng makakaya ko para mai-represent ko po yung sarili ko."
