MYXclusive: PAROKYA NI EDGAR Tackles Harmless Flirting In "Wala Lang Yun"
“Aminado naman ako [na] g*** naman ako dati,” quipped Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda.
“Wala Lang Yun”, the fourth track off the legendary Pinoy band’s latest album Pogi Years Old, would attest to that, especially since the lyrics were based off the personal experience of Chito - and every other guy out there.
“Nahuli na naman ako meron ibang ka-text / Pero pangako sa iyo wala akong ibang ka-sex / Sapagkat di ko kayang mawala ka," sings Chito in the song.
Speaking to MYX on the set of the upcoming music video for "Wala Lang Yun", the 41-year-old singer-songwriter (who has settled down with wife Neri and son Miggy) said he believes that every guy has gone through this phase wherein they can’t help but look at other girls or send flirty text messages with them. But he assured that despite this, guys can still differentiate love from flirting.
“Yung song sa dulo, may realization siya na, kahit for us wala lang yun, if it hurts our partners, our wives or our girlfriends, dapat kailangan namin, ma-realize namin na kahit wala lang sa’min 'yun, kailangan itigil.”
“Napaka-sinungaling naman kung sinabi namin na di kami dumaan sa ganong stage ng mga buhay,” he admitted. “Pero ngayon hindi na.”
“I just want to share our side na it’s normal. And I want the boys to realize also na even though it’s normal, [it] doesnt mean it’s right.”
“Mas masakit mawala yung mahal mo kaysa piliin mong ipagpatuloy yung kalokohan na ganyan.”
