MYXclusive: ASEAN Music Festival Cut Short For Safety Reasons!
The much-anticipated ASEAN Music Festival at the Ayala Triangle Gardens was cut short for safety reasons as an overwhelming number of people flocked to the venue.
Thousands of music fans in attendance were pumped up as the first act Parokya Ni Edgar played their hit “Buloy”. The disturbance began when some surged to get closer to the barricade near the stage. The resulting commotion caused others to faint and require first aid treatment.
But things only became wilder during the second song “Para Sa’yo” as concertgoers started to pick up and raise plastic chairs. Frontman Chito Miranda asked everyone to look after each other while having fun and the band managed to end their three-song set.
Right after PNE's performance, host Venus Raj appealed to the crowd to calm down.
But over an hour later, the organizers decided to cancel the rest of the show.
OPM bands Sandwich, The Ransom Collective, and Silent Sanctuary - who were not able to perform at the music festival - addressed fans on social media.

So sorry about what's happened at the #aseanmusicfestph 😔 we love you guys and thanks so much to those who tried to come out tonight— TheRansomCollective (@TheRansomCMusic) November 14, 2017
Meanwhile, Chito Miranda also voiced his sentiments on Twitter.
Sana nextym hindi na ma- underestimate kung gaano kabuhay ang local music scene. Di daw kasi nila ine-expect na ganun kadami ang pupunta kaya di nila napaghandaan ng maayos. Buti nalang walang major injuries. May this serve as a lesson na maging mas handa nextym.😊 Long live OPM! pic.twitter.com/WjS4V4R8JR— Alfonso Miranda Jr (@chitomirandajr) November 14, 2017
Aside from Filipino bands, various Southeast Asian acts were scheduled to perform at the ASEAN Music Festival.
