Italian opera legend Andrea Bocelli has revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 in March.
Taking to Facebook, the 61-year-old singer revealed that he contracted the virus but was able to make a full recovery by the end of March. According to "The Prayer" hitmaker, he chose not to announce his diagnosis sooner to protect his family's privacy. His statement says: "The pandemic which has shaken the world has also affected – albeit mildly – me and certain members of my family. Out of respect for those for whom contracting the virus has had more serious consequences, I decided it would be best not to share the news. I certainly didn’t want to unnecessarily alarm my fans and also wished to protect my family’s privacy."
Bocelli, who held a special Easter concert last April, also shared that he donated his blood to help researchers find a cure for the virus.
