More than the fanfare surrounding the surely epic battle between Team LeBron and Team Giannis in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, basketball fans are also looking forward to musical performances to honor the late hardcourt legend Kobe Bryant.
Chicago native Jennifer Hudson kicked things off with an emotional and powerful a capella version of the classic "For All We Know (We May Meet Again)" before tip-off. Images of Kobe and his daughter Gianna played on a screen behind the award-winning artist while she sang.
Her fellow Chicago native Common also delivered a moving tribute to the host city and Kobe. See it below:
Earlier, rapper Dr. Dre also paid tribute to Kobe with a two-minute video of the late basketball player's most unforgettable moments on and off the basketball court.
And in case you missed it, the league announced on Saturday that the NBA All-Star Game MVP award has been permanently named after Kobe who is the youngest player to ever play in an All-Star Game at 19 years old in 1998.
