Regine Velasquez-Alcasid wrote an apology today on Twitter about her “insensitive comment” comparing the smell of her old leather bag to Payatas, Quezon City where a large dumpsite is situated.
“I would like to sincerely apologize to the people of Payatas for my insensitive comment. It was not intentional and I should be more careful with the things I say. Pasensya na po God bless bless po," Asia’s Songbird tweeted.
The iconic singer made the comment on her YouTube vlog where she shared her bag collection. “Kaamoy ng bag ko 'yung Payatas. Kasi 'pag nasa Payatas ka na, hindi mo na maamoy na 'yung basura eh. Kasi kayo, pare-pareho na kayo ng amoy dun,” Regine said, recalling the moment she visited the community for a documentary.
Despite her apology, loyal fans also came to their Queen Regine's defense.
