After the release of the re-recorded 15th anniversary edition of Love in the Land of Rubber Shoes and Dirty Ice Cream, Orange & Lemons is back with "Pag-Ibig Sa Tabing Dagat" – their first Tagalog single in 12 years.
And to those unaware, Clem Castro, JM Del Mundo and Ace Del Mundo are back to being a four-piece crew with the addition of Jared Nerona on keyboards.
According to Clem, the new song comes as our preview to their all-Tagalog album they're planning to drop next year which will incorporate elements from "kundiman".
He also revealed that Tagalog songs are quite tricky to write as it's hard not to avoid being cliche. "It is [hard] to write something na hindi paulit-ulit, na hindi cliche so challenge talaga yun." The singer added that he and the band are no stranger to creative blocks. "We pressure each other. Ganun naman yung nangyayari sa'min e. Even before, a few years ago, ganun kami kapag may project. We set our minds into it and we try to come up with a product pero ang kainaman ngayon hindi kami pressured. Mas enjoy namin."
The band premiered the track's music video last July 18 at 70's Bistro. The concept is pretty straightforward and stars the phenomenal tandem of Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez who first saw unprecedented success in 2017's hit rom-com Kita Kita. Their natural chemistry works so well with the kilig nature of the song. Check it out here:
