MYX recently got the chance to do a phone interview with Mark Feehily where he talked about Westlife's upcoming reunion tour, their new album, his thoughts on the return of the boyband craze and more!
When we asked about his thoughts on the current resurgence of boybands, Mark said it's nice that their contemporaries like *NSYNC (who made a surprise reunion at Coachella minus Justin Timberlake) and the Backstreet Boys are still at it two decades later.
The Irish boy group has been gone for quite a long time and a lot of their diehard supporters have remained clueless over the years as to what really led to their initial break up.The singer explained why they decided to call it quits in 2012: "When you go back to when we first split up, it was all for the right reasons. We cared so much that we didn't want to get tired of something so special. We didn't want the fans to get tired of something so special." Mark also revealed that since then, they've been offered to come back several times but they rejected the idea because they felt like they weren't ready.
And now that they're officially back, Westlife is currently working on their new album Spectrum which is set for release this year. Mark even revealed that along with "Hello My Love" and "Better Man", they've also recorded a third song which will be part of the album. "Fans don't know this but we recorded three songs for the upcoming record and the third one will be out soon."
In the end, Mark thanked all of their Pinoy fans for their overwhelming support since their comeback and said the boys can't wait to say hello to their fans once again this July.
