For those whose lives were touched by Avicii, it would be some kind of reprieve to hear the last of the genre-smashing music that the late Swedish record producer was working on before his untimely demise almost a year ago. His family, of course, is giving fans that one final gift.
The posthumous album simply titled Tim (after the superstar DJ's real name Tim Bergling) will arrive on June 6. It will feature 16 new songs that he was close to finishing. Avicii's team of songwriters and producers continued the process and kept it "as close to what Tim would have loved or what Tim would have done," according to Per Sundin, president of Universal Music Nordic Region.
"S.O.S."—one of the tracks on the record—will be released on Wednesday, April 10. His "Wake Me Up" collaborator Aloe Blacc is featured on the new single which includes the following lyrics: "Can you hear me, S.O.S. / Help me put my mind to rest."
Proceeds from the album will go to the nonprofit Tim Bergling Foundation which supports various causes including mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
