In an exclusive interview with TV Patrol, a teary-eyed Liza Soberano announced that it is her personal decision to withdraw from the DARNA Project.

According to the press statement that ABS-CBN and Star Cinema shared, Liza - who was set to give life to the superhero created by Mars Ravelo - suffered from a finger bone fracture while doing a fight scene on the set of “Bagani” last year.

She is still undergoing treatment and recovering from the trauma. It was also revealed that after consultation with her doctors, it was deemed best for Liza not to pursue the project because of her injuryi - which needed 6 steel plates to be inserted in her right index finger. She will also need to undergo another surgery next month.

“I was scared na I wouldn’t look as good doing my stunts because of the way my finger looks, and I’m not sure na babalik siya sa dati, na I would be able to make a fist. Of course I wanted to give my management, my bosses, my best Darna that they could possibly have. But I kind of felt insecure about it na rin,” Liza shared on her interview with reporter MJ Felipe.

Meanwhile, the preparation for the Darna movie continues according to ABS-CBN and Star Cinema. Last October, 'BuyBust' and 'On The Job' filmmaker Erik Matti let go of the directorial role for the said project.
