Suicide Squad and I, Tonya star Margot Robbie has landed the role of the iconic doll Barbie in a an upcoming live-action movie from Warner Bros. and Mattel Films!
Juicy details about the film's plot and other cast members are still under wraps. All we know for now is that the Harley Quinn actress herself will co-produce the film along with Dallas Buyers Club producer Robbie Brenner.
In an official statement, Margot said: "Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president. I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide. I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen."
Fans on the other hand are pretty pleased with the casting and we can't blame them. She does look the part!
The untitled Barbie film is currently penciled for a 2020 release.
