If you may have noticed, Reese Lansangan's brand new single "Islands" sounds different from her indie folk sound that we've grown obsessed with. But the 28-year-old recording artist assured fans that she's not shying away from the music people have known her for.
"'Islands' may sound a bit different [from what fans are used to hearing from me], but I don't think it's the direction, per se, that I'm going for for the second album," Reese told MYX, confirming that she's already working on the forthcoming follow-up to her 2015 debut album Arigato, Internet!
"For the second album, I have like a lot of varied styles. I have like acoustic stuff pa. I have folk. I have super pop songs, and then I have those electronic-driven tracks. It's a mishmash of different things that I just really was able to write at the time. I wasn't thinking of sonic cohesion, but [I just wrote] stuff that would really come out of me."
As for when can fans expect her sophomore album to roll out? Reese said she's hoping for an early 2019 release or within the first quarter of next year at the latest. We will be waiting.
