It's a sad day for die-hard NBA fans. Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs just announced his retirement from professional basketball.
According to reports, Manu has been contemplating retirement for quite sometime and the Spurs were well aware of his plans. The 41-year old player was even given time to reconsider but he ultimately went with his decision to finally hang up his jersey.
Fans and colleagues of the Spurs star took to Twitter to pay tribute to arguably one of the best players in the game. The hashtag #GraciasManu even trended worldwide.
A seasoned veteran, Ginobili started his career playing for Italy and his home country of Argentina before finally getting drafted in 2002 by the San Antonio Spurs where he spent his entire NBA career. His professional baskteball career lasted 23 years, bringing him numerous accolades including a championship and MVP title for EuroLeague in 2001, multiple finals championships under the Spurs banner, two All-Star titles, and more.
