We're finding it hard to believe that even Shawn Mendes gets anxious around a girl he likes! Yesterday, the 19-year-old dropped "Nervous"—the fifth promotional single off his upcoming self-titled album. In the latest release, the Canadian crooner sings: "I get a little bit nervous around you / Get a little bit stressed out when I think about you / Get a little excited, baby, when I think about you."
In an accompanying behind-the-scenes clip, Shawn said, "It's quite funny because the actual concept of the song is super insecure and 'I get nervous around you,' but the sound of the song is this 'I'm the man type of thing'. So I love the contrast between the two."
Fans also noticed the track's similarities with Selena Gomez' "Bad Liar". However, it's interesting to note that both songs were co-written with Julia Michaels which explains the same songwriting structure and melody.
"I think 'Nervous' is probably gonna be a fan favorite in the album."
