The Weeknd just dropped his new album My Dear Melancholy out of nowhere! Abel Tesfaye returns to his dark-alt-R&B roots for the six-track project which he executive produced himself alongside Canadian record producer Frank Dukes. MDM also features two collaborations with Gesaffelstein titled "I Was Never There" and "Hurt You".
Fans were quick to notice the references to the "Starboy" singer's ex-girlfriends Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez in the record. "Call Out My Name", the first track off the album, appears to address his relationship with Sel as he sings "I helped you out of a broken place" and "But falling for you was my mistake."
Many believe that the lines “I said I didn't feel nothing, baby, but I lied / I almost cut a piece of myself for your life / Guess I was just another pit stop / ‘Til you made up your mind / You just wasted my time / You’re on top” refer to how he felt when the singer-actress came running back to her ex Justin Bieber.
Meanwhile, some have concluded that "Wasted Times" is Abel basically admitting he still loves Bella (while shading Selena): “Wasted times I spent with someone else / She wasn’t even half of you”
