The self-proclaimed MayWard fan who personally attended the Skrengge queen's solo show was all praises to Maymay during our MYXclusive interview. "You know what, si Maymay kasi, everybody sees her as this funny and parang joke time lang lagi 'di ba? And we were expecting that sa concert niya," Jed shared. "But then she showed a different side of her when she came out [of the] stage."
"Sobra akong humanga sa kanya as a performer kasi talagang kinareer niya lahat ng dance steps niya, lahat ng mga kanta niya and you know, that's how a concert should be," he said after watching the young actress perform beyond expectations. "The purpose of these concerts is to entertain and to make people happy and that's what she did that night."
"We have to have more of these shows kasi ang hirap na ng buhay, ang daming problema, ang traffic sobra na. We need a break from all these pressures. We just want to have fun and enjoy and that concert ni Maymay was one of those concerts na really, really made me happy."
Will a repeat do, Jed?
The pop balladeer also pointed out that even non-professional singers like of Maymay are still ones to watch out for - something that's close to his ambitions as a mentor-artist is to grant aspiring artists their much needed big break.
Renewing his contract with Star Music, its fruition soon be a reality for Jed after being given the chance to handle his own label, Prime Music. "Ang dami kong nami-meet na sobrang gagaling na mga performers... who really need these avenues to be heard. Sayang lang, we bring them to the States to compete, to represent the country. When they win, pagkauwi dito, nahihirapan pa din sila so might as well try to help them kasi I've been through that experience.
"I don't want them to experience so much disappointment to the point na they will just quit kasi sayang."
